I’ve decided that in my never-ending search for leading a life that is not just your cookie cutter (but can be for the right recipe!), go to work, make babies, come home, drive my car, never question anything, accept the status quo at face value, etc, etc, etc run of the mill boring existence that one of the areas I enjoy living a life that is fulfilling is in the area of food. It is true we are what we eat and to that end eating processed, inedible dog trite packaged, cut and delivered to your orifice hot and ready is not the way I like things (hot and ready….huh huh). As such I came across a food blog operated by a gentleman who must reside in my neighborhood and as a resident of the area I will promote his vision of food nirvana here on my blog as well. Similarly his taste in decor is quite appealing for me and his Etsy store has ample things I would like to buy, but at prices I will avoid….perhaps you have an interest in a culinary arts as well or maybe not but cycling and food can come together quite successfully (I am generally quite hungry following a decent ride and I have measured as many as 6000 calories burned in one 6 hour ride once) so I am now including a link to E.A.T in my blogroll…..bon appitite!

You too and good luck being Vegan this week! I spent a year as a vegan after listening to a presentation by Howard Lyman (sp?) at VCU when I was enrolled in school there. He was the farmer who got sued along with Oprah by the Texas beef cattle association….I still am a vegetarian for the most part (unless I kill it…I figure the venison at my parents’ farm eats my pears/apples from the trees, so I eat them, fair trade) but enjoy local meats or fish when available directly for me (my father-in-law had two quarts of local oysters this holiday as he does every year…can’t miss that). Perhaps we could collaborate on a food/cycling post this spring when people are getting back outside and hitting the local restaurants/backyards….a post you might be interested in is here:

and would be something akin to what I was thinking….food, cycling, coffee from Blanchard’s….brunch is always better with a solid appetite to go along with it.
